Dynamic Html : The Definitive Reference by Danny Goodman Do you have a good grasp of HTML but want to explore the implementation of DHTML features on your site? If so, Danny Goodman has created this book to help you. Written as a reference book rather than as a tutorial, it includes comprehensive information as well as a quick guide. It covers HTML and DHTML tags, CSS attributes, DOM structure, and javascript. Achieving cross-browser compatibility is given emphasis. This book skips the fluff so common in computer books. Goodman assumes you already know what DHTML is, his job is to help with the programming you need to implement it.

Web Style Guide : Basic Design Principles for Creating Web Sites by Patrick J. Lynch, Sarah Horton The Yale University Center for Advanced Instructional Media's online style guide has been a favorite of novice and intermediate website developers for years. This book is basically a print edition of content that is online. Although you could forgo the book for the website, the book has convenience and readability aspects going for it. As for the guide itself - it is very practical, time-tested advice. In a sense it represents the status quo of what is almost universally accepted as good practice. Although following its advice won't put you on the cutting edge, your "style" will be better than 90% of the stuff found on the web. Check out the site, if you like what you see you'll really enjoy having immediate access to the information in book form.
